Overview

We are seeking candidates with 1+ year of experience in office services to join our team in NYC! Ideal candidates will be ready to grow their career in facilities and office services, and to take advantage of internal opportunities at IST Management for training and development toward advancement into management roles. This position will be responsible for fostering a professional and pleasant working environment by providing excellent customer service in the fields of general office services.

Hourly Compensation: $19.00-$21.00/hr USD

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:  The Day Porter is responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness and sanitation across key workplace areas throughout the day. This includes routine and touch-up cleaning of restrooms, the wellness room, and general office areas such as lobbies, hallways, and shared spaces. The Day Porter plays a crucial role in supporting the workplace experience by ensuring the environment remains clean, safe, and presentable for employees and visitors.

 

Restroom Maintenance:
o Perform frequent checks and cleaning of all restrooms.
o Sanitize toilets, sinks, countertops, mirrors, partitions, and floors.
o Refill paper products, soap, and hygiene supplies throughout the day.
o Report plumbing or facility issues to the Site Supervisor immediately.
Wellness Room Care:
o Ensure the wellness room remains clean, sanitary, and private.
o Disinfect surfaces, check for tidiness, and restock tissues, wipes, and hand sanitizer.
o Report any damage, supply needs, or maintenance issues.
Office Cleanliness:
o Perform touch-up cleaning in high-traffic areas (lobbies, hallways, entryways).
o Spot-clean glass surfaces, doors, and high-touch points such as handles and elevator buttons.
o Empty trash and recycling bins in shared office spaces as needed.
Response to Immediate Cleaning Needs:
o Address spills, messes, or cleanliness concerns promptly when reported or observed.
o Support light cleaning following meetings or events if requested by Site Supervisor.

Presentation of Shared Spaces:
o Ensure all public areas are consistently tidy and well-maintained.
o Maintain cleaning equipment in good condition and store materials neatly.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in office services and/or facilities and maintenance services or a related field is required
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required - degree may allow for accelerated path toward managerial roles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to effectively work individually or in a team environment
  • A valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Willingness to cross-train for other job functions
